“Accepting your body is not just about physicality, it’s about accepting who you are, not continuing to wait until you become the person you imagine being.”

Eating Disorder Recovery & Nutrition Issues

Your Relationship with Yourself

A person’s relationship with their body can be complicated. With constant pressure to look or act a certain way, it is easy to feel trapped and isolated when struggling with food and body image. I know how complex these issues are and that it is not about vanity. It is truly painful to be at odds with your own body. Sometimes people become dangerously underweight, but other times the scale doesn’t move at all (or it goes up!). If you are suffering – obsessing over food and weight, terrified of gaining weight, using food as a comfort, afraid that if you don’t exercise you will lose control, beating yourself up over your weight – I can help. I provide Eating Disorder Recovery Treatment in Chicago and the Northwest Suburban Area.

Eating Disorder Recovery

Therapy Focused on Your Goals

I am a Clinical Psychologist and member of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professional Foundation (IAEDP). I specialize in working with people struggling with eating disorder recovery and other nutrition concerns. No matter where you are in your treatment process, we will meet for an initial consultation to help you decide your next step.

Within a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework, I work with teens and adults with:

  • Anorexia Nervosa
  • Bulimia Nervosa
  • Binge Eating Disorder/Emotional Eating
  • Weight Concerns
  • Unspecified Eating Disorder
  • Disordered Eating
  • Food Anxiety
  • Body Image Issues
  • other eating problems

Therapy isn’t just for those with eating disorders. If it is causing a problem for you, you may need some support.

In my comprehensive approach, I collaborate with other professionals who are involved in your care. Initially, we will focus on stabilizing behaviors and restoring your physical well-being.  As you progress, we will work on addressing the underlying issues that maintain the problem.

I utilize an integrative approach in therapy for eating disorders that incorporates:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Family Systems Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Health at Every Size (HAES)
  • Intuitive Eating

Together, we will develop an individualized plan depending on your needs and goals.
