Together, we can work on getting you where you want to be.

Anxiety Disorders Treatment

Anxiety is a normal part of life. Everyone has worries and uncertainties.  It gets to be a problem when it gets in the way of living the type of life you want to have. Anxiety takes many forms. Thoughts, images, memories, and/or worries may replay in your mind. You may find yourself avoiding your obligations. You may find every-day tasks overwhelming. If you are a parent, you may be concerned that your child is missing too much school or is having trouble making friends.

When overwhelmed with anxiety, people often find themselves irritable, restless, and constantly worrying. They may have difficulty sleeping. They may struggle with headaches, gastrointestinal symptoms, and body aches. Sometimes, they have been to many therapists and tried several medications.

I understand anxiety.  A certain level of anxiety is healthy, even motivating. When it gets above a certain point, it affects your functioning. I offer outpatient anxiety disorders treatment, assessment, and consultation. I will work carefully with you to gain an understanding of why you feel the way you do and develop an individualized plan to move toward your goals. I am a member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF).

I use cognitive-behavioral therapy to help you identify and change thoughts that increase and maintain high levels of anxiety as well as adjust behavioral patterns that maintain the problem. I also utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy (when appropriate), a technique that involves learning to manage anxiety more effectively by facing fears, in session. I often work with clients with anxiety that is secondary to trauma and am trained in trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), mindfulness-based therapies, as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Additionally, I am trained in Habit Reversal Training (HRT).

Anxiety problems I can treat include:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Combined anxiety and depression
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
